One of Panama’s traditional dishes, tamales are complex but delicious. The Panamanian tamal is different from other tamales in that we cook and grind hominy corn (no corn flour), we add achiote (annatto seeds) oil for color, and add culantro and other herbs and spices for taste. They are filled with cooked shredded chicken or plant-based chick’n. Available in spicy or mild. Sold pre-cooked and frozen.
